Meeting Minutes - April 3, 2018

Attendees: Telle Zeiler (co-president), Marita Grunfeld (co-vice president), Maureen Merrill (treasurer), Maya Arias (Secretary), and others.

Telle began the meeting and welcomed all attendees.

 

Vote on Last Meeting’s Minutes:

Jose moved to vote on the last meeting’s minutes.

Liz seconded.

Motion passed unanimously.

 

Present and Vote on Next Year’s PTA Officers:

Suzy Large read the WSPTA guidelines report and nominations for next year. They are as follows:

Co-Presidents Marita Grunfeld and Behnosh Najafi

Vice President Angela Bell-Austin

Secretary Cherish Jackson

 

Telle confirmed the nominations.

All nominations closed.

 

Telle moves to vote on the nominations.

Rachael seconded.

Vote passed unanimously.

 

Book Fair:

LaQuita presented that the Scholastic book fair would take place on April 5, 2018. She and her team completed a run through and has streamlined the mistakes from last year. The goal is to cover the cost of the books given to students for the summer. The online book fair runs April 4-April 24. Our family services worker, Acquinetta, distributed Phoenix Bucks to teachers to give out to students in need.

 

Family Health Night:

Volunteers are needed for set uo and the night of Family Health Night.

 

Teacher Appreciation Week:

Angela Bell-Austin requested volunteers for Monday and Thursday of Teacher Appreciation Week May 5-May 11. The schedule is Monday-Breakfast Pancakes. Tuesday-Drinks. Wednesday-Lunch. Thursday-Snacks. Friday-desserts. Liz volunteered to create a Google Doc for volunteers.

 

Review Draft Budget 2018-2019:

Maureen presented next years budget and provided a handout of the 2018-2019 Budget.she anticipates a 40K surplus. The art teacher Janet has requested more funds. The motorized stage project needs

a lead. Marita volunteered to reach out regarding a lea. The Garden needs a lead as well as teacher involvement. Behnosh volunteered to be the Garden Lead.

School Supplies for 2018-2019:

FOH would like to provide school supplies to all students next year. The process needs to be streamlined from last year. Telle stated that one teacher per grade will be needed to coordinate the supply requests. Brit will lead this effort.

 

Playground Progress:

Peter Schumacher reported that we are ready to break ground on the new playground. He made a matching budget request or $8,000.
