Walkathon Photo 2017.JPG

Every fall since 2014, the students of Hawthorne have had the opportunity to show their school spirit and raise money for Hawthorne’s Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) curriculum — all while doing something fun and healthy! Students walk with their class at Genesee Park. There are prizes for students to get them interested and excited about raising funds for Hawthorne.

2018 Walkathon info

This year's walkathon is happening on Friday, October 19, 2018. Students will walk with their class at Genesee Park. There will be prizes for students to get them interested and excited about raising funds for Hawthorne. Watch for pledge forms that we'll send home with kids via back pack mail after a Walkathon assembly in early October.

Donate/Pledge

Start collecting pledges as soon as your envelopes come home. Look in your child's backpack for volunteer forms and pledge envelopes and begin helping your student collect pledges from friends, family (near and far!) and neighbors.

For family and friends not close, please have them donate by clicking the PayPal button below.

Walkathon Highlights

2017 - Another Great Year! The students raised over $16,000 and also raised school spirit and pride. There was rain, wind and sun. Thanks to Moose Group, Renew Physical Therapy, and State Farm Insurance for the awesome new Rise Up t-shirts as well as Trident Seafoods for the cool Hawthorne Phoenix water-bottles.

2016 - A BIG thank you is in order for another successful Hawthorne Elementary School Walk-a-Thon! Not only did we raise more than $15,000 (and still counting), I believe we also raised school spirit and pride! We could not have pulled off this event without the hard work of many volunteers, teachers and sponsors.

2015 - Hawthorne students, families, friends, teachers, and community ROCKED this year's walk-a-thon. All students received a t-shirt and a jump rope. The event exceeded expectations, raising over $17,000!

2014 Walk-A-Thon at Genesee Park

2014 - Students and their families raised $14,746!  45% of Hawthorne students submitted pledges.  In addition, the walkathon benefitted from $4,350 in sponsorship from groups including IBS, the Moose Group and FOH.  All students received a T-shirt, courtesy of the Moose Group, and a pedometer.  Captain Lazy Pants (a.k.a. teacher Len Hill) engaged the students in pre- and post-event assemblies.  Grade bands and individual students were rewarded for outstanding participation in a variety of categories (e.g., greatest number of pledges, best spirit, etc.).  The walkathon funds have been earmarked to support STEAM programming.
