Pledge to help create the new Hawthorne Playground and Outdoor Space

Last year, you and over 250 other member of our community came together to create a shared vision for transforming Hawthorne's asphalt school yard into a tree-filled sanctuary with diverse play and learning opportunities.

This year, with the design plans in place, we are excited to start that transformation. This will include the construction of a new sitting areas, a creative play area, the begin of the "creek" running through the site, new sitting areas, new entryway to 39th Ave, and planting of over 25 new trees. Construction will begin in late spring, but your chance to get involved starts Saturday, October 20*, with a ground breaking celebration and tree planting day (9 a.m. to noon).  This will be the first of four quarterly volunteer work parties throughout the year.

Your volunteer pledge greatly supports our Neighborhood Matching Fund grant application. Your time in matched with cash from the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods that will be a large source of funding for construction. Contact information is required for grant application. This is a community project and all are welcome. Each individual in the household (adults and children) count towards the match. Sign up the whole family below!
